You Can't Out Give God

You can't out give God. At Four Corners we don't shy away from talking about giving back to God a portion of what He gave us to begin with. It is not that "it's better to give than receive," but "it's better to give what you receive." When you tap into being generous with the things God has given to you to manage you not only move into the sweet spot of God's tangible and intangible favor, you enable 4 Corners Church to reach more people with the life changing message of Jesus. Marriages are strengthened, families brought closer together, purpose is discovered and people engage the adventure of walking out God's best for them. In short, your faithful giving creates places where you and your friends can experience Jesus.

What does Four Corners believe about money?

We believe that how you spend your money is a reflection of whats important to you - that's true for churches and individuals. Around here we value [1] generously blessing people [2] spending money to impact lives instead of letting it sit in the bank [3] budgeting based on what we believe God wants us to do and not on what WE think will came in. At Four Corners we manage our money using the best business practices but maximizing profit is not what drives us. We think these beliefs reflect what the Bible has to say about money.

Where does Four Corners get its money?

Our support comes from people who tithe (giving back to God 10% of earnings) and from the free-willed offerings of attendees. It is normal for anyone that calls Four Corners "home" to support the church financially. We do not have a few individuals funding everything.

Does Four Corners have high accounting standards?

Yes. We have a CPA who records all income and expenditures. A team that includes a member of the Board of Directors, a staff member and faithful volunteers oversees all financial systems. You can request a copy of our Annual Financial Review and you will find money is managed with integrity at Four Corners.

Do you have an open book policy?

Yes. Simply contact the church to set an appointment and Four Corners will provide appropriate information.

Does this mean I can find out staff salaries?

No. The releases of this kind of personal information can lead to inappropriate comparisons and discontent among staff and the congregation at large. We don't think a person's salary is a full reflection of their worth or value to Four Corners. We trust those in leadership to make financial decisions, specifically the staff and the Board of Directors.

Who sets salaries?

The overall structure and specifically the salary of the Lead Pastor are set by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is made up of trusted members of the congregation who have committed to sacrificially serve the vision and mission of Four Corners. They are men and women who were orginally chosen and affirmed by the launch team before we ever held our first service.

What principles are used in setting salaries?

We use several criteria, including surveys of similar churches, similiar non-church positions, the standard of living in greater Cincinnati, the church's capacity, the individual's needs and the overall faithfulness and fruitfulness of the staff member.

Why does Four Corners give things away?

We are a church. We invest in people. We are not simply a business trying to increase its bottom line. We give away bibles, coffee, curriculum, books, CDs, food, and other gifts including major donations because we follow the example of a generous God.

What happens to left over money?

Every year the staff takes an around-the-world tour with their families and closest friends. Once that is taken care of, the rest is bet at the Churchhill Downs in hopes of hitting it big and funding the newest building campaign. Seriously, there is not a lot of leftover money. But what is leftover goes toward ministry expenses for the following year.
